It is becoming increasingly apparent that surveyors and the general public are becoming more aware of the building regulations with regards to windows, doors and conservatories when purchasing properties.

Customers are putting their trust in estate agents and surveyors when purchasing properties with double glazed windows, doors and conservatories that they are in compliance with the neccessary building regulations. They do not wish to find out a later date from a potential buyers surveyor when remarketing the property that the windows, doors and conservatory are not in compliance, and that the potential buyers are asking for a reduction in the asking price in way of compensation for the re-fitting of windows, doors or conservatories that are in compliance.

Imagine their disbelief especially after having paid a professional surveyor who was recommended by the estate agent to carry out a proper and detailed survey which should have highlighted any double glazed windows, doors or conservatories which failed to meet the neccessary regulations.

As you will be aware we are now living in a society which is only too ready to sue or counter sue with regards to any failings whether it is of a regularity or insurance nature. Even trying to proportion the smallest percentage of blame when negotiating settlements. The second company is Windor (Scotland) Ltd, a company which repairs or refurbishes not installs double glazed windows, doors and conservatories, which in certain circumstances can with a small modification make a double glazed window or door comply with the neccessary building regulations which would allow the sale of properties to be speedily concluded.

By now you will be asking yourself, why two seperate companies? Having firstly marketed double glazed windows, doors and conservatory repairs through Transview (Scotland) Ltd we found that the general public perceived it as a ploy by a double glazing company to get a foot in the door to sell double glazing, which is totally understandable considering the reputation which precedes double glazing salesmen, to which i have some degree of sympathy.

If you are contracted by landlords to maintain their properties where does the responsibility begin or end with regards to the windows, doors and conservatories being in compliance with the neccessary building regulations especially with regards to the health and safety aspect i.e. fire escape windows and doors - just a thought.
